Emotional Skills Support Workshop

Through this Emotional Skills Support Workshop, the CoEJ Wellbeing Network is aims to enable you to support people in the community. This can include those supporting family, co-workers, friends, community members, volunteers making calls to vulnerable people, or even those who simply want to learn some new skills and practice them.

Due to high demand for this course, we are pleased to be running the 16th edition of the Emotional Support Skills Workshop on Saturday, 16 January 2021 between 9.30am-12.30pm GMT, followed by a mandatory reflection circle on Saturday, 23 January 2021 between 9.30am-10.30am GMT.

This program is aimed at offering individuals the opportunity to develop skills to better their own mental health and the mental health of community members, and in doing so, adding value to the conversations already taking place. It will give participants the opportunity to practice and learn the following:

1. Stress Container Model
2. ALGEE Model for Wellbeing Triage
3. Phone Communication Skills
4. Questioning Skills
5. Active Listening
6. Empathy
7. Signposting



The Workshop is facilitated by Br Ammar Farishta of Fitrus Training, a certified Mental Health First Aider who specialises in mental health and capacity building training, and Sr. Fatema Rahemani, a primary school teacher who has completed her undergraduate studies in psychology and her postgraduate studies in child development.
