The Jamaat in conjunction with the Worcester Crown Court arranged a court visit for a small group of our members during December 2015.

The day was spent as guests of Honourable Judge Abbas Mithani QC and the visiting members were invited to observe actual court proceedings where Judge A Mithani was the presiding Judge.

The team was also invited for lunch and an informal get together with other judges from Worcester Court.

The visiting members found the occasion to be very educational and hopefully this will be a start of future visits to larger courts in the West Midlands.

The visiting members are very grateful to Honourable Judge Abbas Mithani for arranging the visit and for the excellent hospitality afforded to the members of the Jamaat.

Honourable Judge Abbas Mithani (Seating) with (from L to R) Professor Nayab Sultan, Jamaat Head of Finance- Mahmood S Bhogadia, Maulana Mohamed Rashid, Sisters Sabina Kanani and Nahid Roshanali.

As you may be aware the Jamaat- through the excellent work of the burial committee- now has access to a Digital Autopsy facility for all deaths that require an autopsy by the coroner. This means that in most cases an invasive autopsy is avoided thereby complying with our Sharia requirements. The EC has decided to incorporate the Digital Autopsy as an additional benefit for the members of the burial fund as of 1st January 2016. The cost of such a digital imaging is £550 per person. This will mean that the annual subscription for burial will need to be increased by £5, from £40 to £45 per member. This increase will become due from 1st January 2016. Those members paying by standing order are requested to amend the amount by instructing their own bank.

With duas,

Mahmood S Bhogadia
Head of Finance
